Solid Steel (17th April) Our guest in Hour 1 is Austrian producer Roman Rauch. His debut album ‘Heliocentric’ is out on Klamauk and he serves up a mix starting with a nod to Coldcut and weaving through music from Mtume, The Roots, Kyle Hall, Greg Beato and Glenn Astro on the remix for Roman Rauch. He told us;
“Here’s a little mix I’ve done for Solid Steel going through some new bits and some all time favorites of mine recorded on 2 Technics, 2 cdjs and a Rane mixer. Feeling very honoured for being asked to record a mix for them, since i spent quite a part of my youth recording their weekly shows to tape. To say I’m a fan is a vast understatement. Hope you like the mix”.
We finally managed to record the guest appearances on our “too fast for love” parties @ Kulturclub Schon Schön!
This is a personal bookmark at the end of a chapter, to capture my time living in the shadow of a mountain, and collate some of the reflections of my environment within the music i made here.
We all eventually become reflections of our environment. So it’s important to remember that we can, and sometimes need to, be the architects of those environments.
It’s time to move on again. Thank you and goodbye to the beautiful people who held and shook my hand throughout the experience. In the wise words of the trailer park boys, “We Can’t Call People Without Wings Angels So We Call Them Friends”.

Guiding you through the summer heatwave is a real electronic mastermind. A stone-cold underground hero and regular fixture throughout our ever growing wax collections…introducing Freerotation stalwart and all round tip top talent, TOM ELLIS.
Tom has been knocking out jazz-infused house cuts and off-kilter techy wobblers for the last decade or so with his hardware heavy sound bubbling away beneath the mainstream. An out an out producer at heart, Tom has been cutting his teeth with the Freerotation family over the last few years whilst popping up every so often with releases on some of our most beloved labels, such as Logistics and it’s baby sister Telegraph and more recently his own imprint Modo Di.
This particular episode is all about Ellis’ musical talent through and through. No fucking about, straight up heat from the top. Enjoy!
Solid Steel in association with Serato (7th August) In Hour 2 it’s German producer Tilman who runs the Klamauk record label, which released an album by previous guest Roman Rauch and his own Transmission EP in May. His forthcoming releases will be on Charmin Records and a split EP with Chocky on Ears Have Eyes. Mike Huckaby, Lowtec, Fouk and Moodymann all feature and he had this to say about his mix;
“I recorded this mix in my damn hot studio under the roof and been thinking about the early hours in a house club – when the magic is going to build up and the people slowly prepare for a great night. These records are my old and present all-time favorites: deep and danceable. Just some lovely music for every kind of situation. I am feeling very honoured for getting the chance to record a mix for solid steel.”
