Klamauk “too fast for love” @ Schon Schön, Mainz
.
Ah Mainz!
First city in Germany I’ve been, first city in Germany I’ve played, probably 5 years ago, a time I believed Germans were just a pale tall blond guys wearing socks with flip-flop (well you know, I’m from south of France..). Since there, I learnt how to appreciate this new culture and after a thousand times coming in Germany since, I just can say that Germany and above all, Mainz & Berlin feel like home to me.
So after a long trip from home to Mainz (I had to go to Spain, in Girona to get my flight) I arrived in Mainz, Beautiful weather and good beer as usual. I started a complete new liveset few days ago, and I came with the idea to present something totally new, but I needed to work more, cause nothing was really ready! So I spent the night then the next day working on this new liveset. We went to Tobi aka Keinzweiter where I used his studio. After a bunch of hours spending time to fix, arrange, and assign something which could look like a liveset, and it was time for the soundcheck at Schon Schön club.
I was very happy to meet Max aka Paradroid again, almost one year since last time I saw him, and believe me he was such a complete new person! He lost more than 20 kilos, he was full of motivation and energy again, I’m very proud of him! Paradroid was one of the few guys who completely flashed me the first time I listened to one of his record, at this time I was a rocker and i decided to switch to electronic music after hearing my friend David aka NICE playing Ark, Paradroid, Fym, Krikor, Robag Whrume, Herbert… Boogizm label’s music was for me, at this time, the craziest and polished dance music ever! It was like it was made just for me! Max was my first connection to the German Dance music, and then Tilman was the first guy who brought me to Germany! So the Klamauk Party was ready to be a great one!
Indeed the Party started very well with Michael, shortly after he started, the dancefloor started to be very packed. They played very good groovy House and Techno with Max, and once again it was a pleasure to watch Max spinning his records, a perfect technician!
At 2:00 am it was time for me to play, i was ready, didn’t drink at all, ready to test this brand new liveset in the middle of a very very packed dancefloor. It was actually very hard to reach the stage, and some guys from the Klamauk team had to stay to organize a kind of security around my gear, cause too much people around. But can I complain? Absolutely not!
So I played for 80 minutes, I wasn’t exactly sure about what I was doing sometimes but I think in general I felt satisfied, and I got a very good response from the audience. The last 5 minutes I felt comfortable enough to climb over the upright piano standing close to the dj booth, and I played with my iPad (using touchAble, the revolutionary software we ‘ve been developing with my friend Christian Blomert from Berlin). From there I could see the dancefloor, absolutely full, pretty impressive!
Tilman started to play just after me and gave a good 4 hours dance lesson. I could start to drink seriously, job was done. Schon Schön is a nice place, i like the old fashion style there, pretty relax, and the sound system is now pretty good (Martin Audio). Party ended around 7:30am, Tilman had to play somewhere else from 10 to 12am, everybody was up to follow him, I quit my zombi friends, I needed a rest, I’m an old guy now, with a broken car waiting at an airport in Spain in few hours!!!
Thanks guys, good as usual, see you in Barcelona!!
