Klamauk @ Clöeb Frisch, Wiesbaden

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

after the booked location in mainz got canceled two days before the party, we were in a hurry to find a new one, because everything was planed, flyers were produced and keinzweiter arranged his first liveset only for this event. fortunately we found a good alternate location with the “clöeb frisch multibar” in wiesbaden. so we had to do a lot of advertisement in the last days to communicate, that the party will be at the other side of the rhine river. the dancefloor was located in the basement of the club. it got crowded quickly and the fact that the music was not that loud as usual, the atmosphere still was great. supported by the local dj’s trojan and sarah de la rosa, keinzweiter played his liveset debut very proper, with some tunes from his album and new housy stuff. tilman completed the great night in the early morning with a nice dj set. we went home at 8-9 am, can’t remember clearly….

New releases of klamauk artists

Friday, April 30th, 2010

From now on we will inform you monthly about new releases by our artists. This time we start with some fresh tunes from Ark, Le K, Keinzweiter, Tilman, The Clover, Tom Ellis, Leif, Sven Laux and Daniel Brandt (Scott).

“A skilful collection of tracks spanning multiple genres : the haunting vocals of Nina Simone juxtaposed with the pumping bass line on ‘Rising’, the catchy pop-house of ‘Puince’, the funk infused ‘Biscouit’; each are examples of the eclecticism and talent of this latest offering. Another touchstone for Perlon.” (The Burlington Project)

Le K remixed the track “Great White North” from Bron’s EP on Danksoul

Bron, a mysterious giant from the plains of Canada’s sub arctic region, comes out of nowhere with Danksoul’s second release “Great White North”. Bron’s debut record is a truly northern take on the infectious grooves of micro house. The title track, “Great White North”, is a jacked-up home grown classic that has been garnering a cult-like following in Canada since its inception a couple years back. French avant-garde house producer Le K provides a heavy handed remix, which will surely occupy a permanent space in record boxes and play lists across the globe. Bron polishes off this EP with the bouncy beats and bass of “Splash Back”, followed by the soulful space hop of “Postcards from the Prairies”

A1 Bron – Great White North
A2 Bron – Great White North (le k’s almost black! remix)

Keinzweiter and Tilman remixed tracks from Solid-M’s Album on SpontanMusik

Between typography and illustrations the Mainz based designer Marcel Fleischmann has still enough time to sound his unusual creations that rank to work at the interface between classical Minimal and Mainz influenced Microhouse. Planatol is a cross-section of his work from the recent years and is mainly through the loving use of jazz harmonies to take on the clicking and minimal beat scaffolding to come together into a unity of opposites.

Keinzweiter as Superlauncher and Sven Laux appears on the Unoiki UNdefinition compilation

“Undefinition means more than not defining. Neither is it just re-defining. It expresses an urge for a perpetual state of change, an urge to feel oneself opening up to the plurality of reality.
Undefinition is rooted in discovering that the stability of human existence is not placed in traditions, systems and rules, but in the possibility to play and wonder; that humans, through play, can experience more of our reality.”

NYC vinylstores

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

in november 2009 i visited my old friend tammo and his family in philadelphia. during my stay i took the chance to go to new york city, wich is a smooth 2 hour ride from philly. 13 years since i been to new york. an old friend from german school days in DC lives there, so i had a place to stay. while erik was pretty busy with his own project “Bipolart” i had two days of walking around, checking out some vinyl stores in manhatten and brooklyn.

Größere Kartenansicht

i had 7 on my list, of which two, etherea and vinyl market, were closed or at least are only selling online now. but there are actually quite a few vinyl dominated record shops left in new york, if you look in for example west village. i was walking down bleeker street and found rebel rebel and bleeker street records plus one other in a side street. they did not have any electronic so, i went on to other music on 15 E. 4th Street in greenwich Village, a pretty big store with mostly cds, but some selected vinyls as well. i bought the red (beautone) and the blue (the dramatics) / klang elektronik “Farben”, but went no further because of my schedule and the fact that there was no chance to prelisten the vinyls. so it’s either “you know or you go”.

other-music

next stop (walking distance 15 min.) turntable lab at 120 E 7th St., a small store with some very nice pieces in there! the store carrys mostly house, hip hop and disco stuff and some detroit. jamah, the owner is a nice guy, i am shure he’ll welcome you as friendly as me. perfect setting to hang out and browse. boughtmichna, selections from magic monday (ghostly international, comes with t-shirt!), the revenge/forever in their debt (hometaping 07) and an double album called local customs “downdriver revival” numero 026. a collection of recordings made by felton williams from 1967-1981. the release includes a dvd with 200 sound recordings plus a 30 minute documentary. nice. enough funk, jazz and for this winter.

turntable_lab

on thursday i went over the east river to brooklyn. first stop at dope jams at 580 Myrtle Ave. If you decide to walk there, do so from Williamsburg over Bedford Ave. through the orthodox jewish quarter. dope jams is a very friendly place with lots of vinyl. some said it’s the place to be when it comes for electronic stuff, so expectaitions where high. first of all, they have big motherfucking speakers in there for shows they organize. The owner Francis (the owner) and Vince Patricola were giving me a warm welcome, especially beacuse i met vince 2 years before in detroit, were he worked at the recordtime shop.  He was running the deq magazine, which still sits beside my stereo. 2 hours browsing through records brought OMAR-S 210 Side trackx volume2 on FXHE, moodyman/freeki (whitelabel MM VOL 6) and Terre Thaemlitz/you again PT.1 on Mule19

dope_jams

my last stop lead me almost directly under the brooklyn bridge where the halcyon store is located at 57 Pearl St. on the corner of Pearl and Water Street. If you go there by nightfall take a cab like i did. well, i try’d at least to catch a yellow cab … until i found out from erik laine that the cabs in brokklyn are black limos driven mostly by latinos. yeah right i thought and stood aside the street to raise my arm like iv’e been told and … BAM. cab. black. limo. latino. no comment… when you arrive be shure to check out the brooklyn bridge. nice view from there! the store is awesome too. erik “liondub” is superchilled and played the whole fucking second release loud in the store. unlucky me i had left over, so i just quicly browsed through the various labels and artists. everything is very well sorted, so you’ll fin quickly what your vinyl heart needs. next time erik, i will stay longer! all the labels all house and techno. european and american. best selection of newer electronics in nyc i thought.

klamauk° @ bastard, osnabrück

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

[ saturday 15th of november ]
it was rainy all night on my way to osnabrück. after hours of driving and 2 hitchhickers i was happy to be just in time for the le k live set. tilman already said on the phone: wait till you see this. i arrived at a day-skatehall, night-club sort of fucked up buildung standing alone in light. and light i saw. many. the guys from osna arranged a massive laser show. pretty abstract and on the long run – pretty cool. also theay had a nice bahnhof clock on the wall which was spinning wild, so it seemed because of the strobo lights pointed at it. it was the perfect setting for sylvain to begin, as the crowd was already heated up. actually i saw him too partying the hardest, switching between mic and his new mac (thank god you got one) and a keyboard he just learned to operate that evening. tilman also gave much love in his, so i thought best dj set yet. at 7, while still the locals went nuts  (thanks guys for a great night and again the hospitality!!!) i went to sleep in my volkswagen, when suddenly … k*

Klamauk Labelparty “too fast for love” @ Comodo, Mainz (cinestar)

labelparty 06.11.2009 flyer by michael fluhr

ok ok. i was lazy late last night. after the a3 autobahn was completely closed, i had to go around cologne, instead of driving by.. arriving in mainz at 2 am our second labelparty was already boiling since twelve. the clover just started and literaly everybody was dancing. nice to pop in to a crowd like that. although the sound system of comodo lounge is worthy for exchange, the guys from italy presented some really nice tricks with live bass guitar. after the clover, keinzweiter went nuts, also tilman gave everything, until his ears went out and the mixer gave up his last order: trojan. already six, still dancing. over. k*
